What is an Actuary?

An actuary is a professional who uses math, statistics, and financial theory to measure and manage risk. I specifically write professional exams through the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), focusing on property and casualty insurance.

What instrument do you play?

I focus on the piano, which I am constantly practicing and learning. Previously, I played the euphonium and the trumpet as part of my institute's brass band.

What drives you?

Novelty. I am driven by the process of discovering new ideas, solving unfamiliar problems, and building things that didn't exist before.
